Phil Dye

A site dedicated to dissent, diversity and dangerous ideas

About Phil

no comment

Phil Dye is a Sydney based author, lecturer and musician who believes in freedom

of expression – even if this expression does tread on a few toes occasionally. He is the author of The father lode published by Allen and Unwin (1998) and 101 ways to improve your writing (2006)

Feel free to comment on the writing you read in the categories at left. Most pieces have been published by newspapers throughout Australia, while some were just too politically incorrect for any editor to touch. Dissent is a common theme in his writing, and it’s this idea of ‘dissent’ which he believes is sadly lacking in Australian society today.  ”It’s not just having the right ingredients, it’s how you stir the pot that counts. Australians have forgotten how to stir the pot, and that’s a great shame.”

Phil’s music also has a touch of the dissenter. His latest CD was released in October 2009 and has received critical acclaim from reviewers at the Sydney Morning Herald and the ABC.  You can sample some tracks by using the widget on the music page.

Other samples of his recordings include The Old Triangle, Ride On and the comedic Bum and Poo Song. His Monty Panesar Song has featured on the BBC Cricket Show and has over 35,000 youtube hits.

Enjoy your reading, and once again, feel free to praise, condemn or question. It’s these traits that make for a healthy society. email phil@etcmedia.com.au
